Scoring some ridiculously cheap flights to Bali already has me off to a good start for my trip. I figure if I can save on one thing, I can spend on another, right? So here I am, in the middle of Seminyak, ready to stay luxe, eat big, and shop even bigger.
After a few nights in Uluwatu (more on that here), I check in to the Amadea Resort & Villas Seminyak and I know I’m onto a good thing when some of my favourite shops (hello Shakuhachi), bars, restaurants and of course, the beach are only a short walk away. With the price of my room costing less than a pair of stilettos, I’m feeling like a pretty savvy traveller. Comfortable in size, with a balcony overlooking the pool (and adorable towel art dog thrown in for a giggle), it’s a welcome start to my stay in Seminyak.
Desperate to try my first Balinese Nasi Goring, I check-in then head straight to the hotel’s restaurant, Bistro Batu Kali, and start digging in. This is probably one of the only dishes I can admit to liking with runny egg yolk (I’m not its biggest fan), so I’m happy to tick the Nasi Goring (and protein) box for the day before ticking off the beach.
The Amadea Resort & Villas deserve some big brownie points for location. A short stroll down the street (via the necessary pit stop at the markets) has us couched at La Plancha beach bar with one too many cocktails in hand. We managed to get a little more than we bargained for (literally) with some extra retail therapy on the beach and a snake thrown around our neck for a quick pic (move over Brittany). We make ourselves comfortable here, staying far beyond our 10pm curfew… whoops!
Following our morning headaches (I’m such a sucker for 2-for-1 cocktails) a quick dip in the hotel’s pool is the perfect refresher before a morning massage. With two pools to choose from, it’s a win for the sparkling lap pool which teases us from our balcony.
A trip to Bali isn’t complete without some head to toe pampering right? So with my BFF in tow, we poke our noses into Ambient Spa at Amadea Resort and an hour later are leaving refreshed, revived, and ready to bring on a new day. This was a true wow factor moment for me.
I opt for a total rejuvenation massage which involves a traditional Balinese massage, blend stretching, and acupressure with Balinese spice – 60 minutes of pure bliss. My BFF (who is roaring red from too much fun in sun) wisely opts for the after sun skin care indulgence massage, which includes a gentle body massage with a special Aloe Vera treatment to treat and nourish the skin. From the look on her glowing face after the massage, she enjoyed it just as much as I did.
Coming down from our massage highs, our stay at the Amadea Resort sadly has to come to an end. Out of all the places I’ve stayed in Bali, the Amadea is by far the most affordable and is taking the lead for best location. Located right in the middle of the action, I give it a big thumbs-up for anyone in the market for an affordable trip to Bali.
