Live Last Minute

6 tips for an amazing (and relaxing!) lastminute babymoon

With a baby on the way, chances are you’re feeling pretty restless right now. We get it, you’re growing a human! It’s both an exciting and a nerve-racking time, so you’re probably hanging out for a holiday.

Even if it’s all down to the eleventh hour, you can still fit in a well-deserved (and much needed) break – and planning it doesn’t have to be a chore. Here are six tips for an amazing (and relaxing) lastminute babymoon 🌴

1. Do your research

Generally, it’s best to stick to a domestic holiday, especially if you’re in your last trimester. This should also make your getaway cheaper and easier to plan, especially if you’re doing it at the lastminute. However, if you’re keen to go overseas and your doctor says your destination is okay and gives you the all-clear to fly internationally, then pack those bags, bb! 👶

Also ask your doc if there are any activities you should avoid, how far you can travel, or if there are any places you shouldn’t visit. If you are thinking about going overseas, make sure to ask about any vaccinations you might need (and whether or not you can have them) too!

2. Be flexible

Babymoon or not, this is a solid tip for ANY lastminute getaway. You can get some awesome deals at the lastminute, when hotels and airlines sometimes need to lower their prices to fill up empty rooms and seats. The best deals are usually where there’s lots of leftover stays and flights – which can seriously work in your favour if your priority is staying in a lush hotel, rather than visiting a specific destination. Check out the #livelastminute page on lastminute.com.au – it has all our hottest hotel, flight and package deals for this and next weekend.

3. Let go

Once you’ve found out what you can do, and where you can go, it’s time to unwind. Kick back, relax, and let go of your worries. This is the ultimate me-time moment.

Why not pop off to the Mornington for a long and lazy weekend? Less than a two-hour drive from Melbourne CBD, Lindenderry at Red Hill is a tranquil escape where you can breathe in fresh country air, indulge in some amaaazing local fare and slow down, even just for a few days.

4. Keep moving

Okay, we’re sure you already know this, but it’s best not to spend long periods sitting down when you’re pregnant (or ever, really). So if you’re on a drive or flight, make sure you keep moving. If you’re driving, pull over and have a stretch. If you’re flying, stand up and go for a walk down the aisle.

5. Get pampered

Hey, it’s hard work making a brand-new person! So why not treat yourself to a little R’n’R with a massage or beauty treatment? QT Sydney offers pregnancy massages and is smack-bang in the middle of the harbour city. It’s just a short stroll for sightseeing, too, which makes it the perfect option for a little stay-cay.

6. Chase the sun 🌞

Soak up the sun and that sea breeze, but don’t forget to slip, slop, slap. Lizard Island Resort is an all-inclusive luxury escape that makes for the perfect break before your big arrival. The location is serene and stunning, just off the coast of Tropical North Queensland, AND they offer a tailored babymoon package with every detail attended to. Massages, mocktails, a picnic on a beach all to yourself – yes, please! Just make sure you get your doctor’s okay before you go, as Lizard Island doesn’t have a hospital.
