5 amaze foodie experiences less than an hour from Brissy

One of my favourite pastimes is eating, and it turns out I’m great at it!

Sweet or savoury, it never really matters, as long as it’s fresh, fast and made for me, I’ll be the first to sample it. I’m always on the hunt for new foodie experiences, and I‘m spoilt for choice in Brissie.

Here are my top 5 amazing foodie experiences, less than an hour from Brisbane:

1. Spirit House, cooking school & restaurant – Yandina

A Thai experience super close to home, towards the Sunshine Coast, Yandina is located just off the Bruce Highway. Nestled among tropical trees, a rainforest setting guides you to a truly tranquil restaurant and cooking school, well worth a visit, or two, or three! Spirit House offers amazing food, enjoyed around a picturesque lake. If you’re looking to advance your Thai cooking skills, then learn from the pro’s with a 4-hour cooking class experience, or, if you’re like me and simply craving delicious food and an amazing wine selection, just sit back, relax, eat & enjoy!

2. Eat Street Markets, Hamilton – Brisbane

Holy food gods, this brings a whole new meaning to the term ‘Food coma’!  I recommend a small hunger strike a few hours out from your visit to leave enough stomach space to sample all your favourites food truck foods. Mine include deep-fried Popcorn Pork, followed by a decadent Ferrero Rocher Cronut washed down with ice-cold peach ice-tea. P.S. Don’t forget it’s a $2 coin for entry

Eat Street markets are open Friday, Saturday & Sunday evenings.

3. Kanara Organic Marketplace, Forest Glenn

Organic, soul nurturing yumness! Kanara is located just 50 minutes from Brisbane CBD towards the Sunshine Coast. Kanara is home to the largest organic food store in Queensland with choices galore, I promise! Kanara is one of my favourite places to visit on the way to the Sunshine Coast and well worth a visit just with this place in mind. In addition to the store, Kanara is home to an amazing cafe where vegan, gluten free and paleo geniuses unite to serve you up super-food salads, guilt free cakes and smoothies, smoothies and smoothies. There’s truly something on the menu for everyone and while you’re visiting, be sure to roam around the garden centre, visit the naturopath or even spoil yourself in the gift shop.

4. Night Quarter Markets, Helensvale – Gold Coast

The Night Quarter Markets provide a lifestyle, market experience. Here you’ll find a plethora of delicious food choices combined with entertainment. The only negative to visiting foodie markets like Night Quarter is simply not having enough room to sample everything! P.S.S. Don’t forget there’s a $3 charge for entry.

5. Bakery Lane, Fortitude Valley – Brisbane:

Located in the hub of Fortitude Valley is Bakery Lane. Alternative, fresh and quirky, this warm and inviting archway guides you to a hidden alley of adventure. If you’re looking for something a little different, Bakery Lane is Brisbane’s newest nugget of fun. If you’re a lover of all things chocolate, a must do at Bakery Lane, is We Love Brownies, where delectable brownie inventions await. Just putting it out there: brownie ice-cream sandwich #cantevendeal!

So there you have it, my top 5 amazing foodie experiences, less than an hour from Brisbane! Get snacking 😉
