15 things you NEED to know about the Adina Waterfront Darwin

Thinking about heading to Darwin? From the little things to the deal-breakers, here’s everything you need to know about a stay at one of the city’s top accommodation options:

  1. You can’t beat the location. Adina is part of the gorgeous new Waterfront precinct smack bang in the newest part of Darwin. Think hotels, restaurants, bars and boutiques – you’re right amongst the action.
  1. Bring out your inner child in the wave lagoon. Just outside the Adina, this man-made (and croc-free!) swimming option features 10 different wave patterns. I even spotted a water aerobics class in full swing early one morning!

  1. It’s worth asking for a water view room. We were placed in a lovely room but it only had street views. A quick phone call and we were given the okay to move. If you don’t ask, you don’t get 😉
  1. The AC will be your best friend. Savour the escape from the Darwin heat as soon as you step into the foyer.

  1. On-site parking ($10 per night) is an easy option and there were plenty of spaces available during our stay.
  1. If you’re lucky, you might score a gift. Nothing says welcome like a bottle of red.

  1. Enjoy easy access to the CBD via the Sky Bridge, just a short stroll from the hotel and worth a look for the view alone.
  1. Fitness fans are looked after with the small but well-equipped gym. If the treadmill isn’t your thing, get your fit on in the pool.Adina Waterfront Darwin pool

 10.  A self-contained apartment is a great option. The comfy living area, well-equipped kitchen and separate bedrooms feel homely and welcoming. And you can’t beat a glass of wine enjoyed on your own balcony.

 11. Take advantage of the complimentary shuttle bus just outside to hit up the Parap Markets (make sure you go hungry, it’s a food lovers’ dream!

 12. The breakfast crew are the friendliest ever and even if you’re not a morning person, you’ll be hard-pressed not to walk out of the dining area with a smile on your face. The top-notch buffet breakfast options help too; the yoghurt, muesli and berries gets my vote.

 13. Keep an eye out for visitors. A couple of (little) lizards in our room were a reminder we were in the Top End!

 14. Get your cruise on. You’re in walking distance to the Stokes Hill Wharf where you can jump on one of the champagne and dinner sunset cruises. It would be rude not to.

 15. It’s well equipped for conferences. *Hint, hint* to your boss to head North for any conferences this year, especially during the winter months when Darwin days are balmy and lovely. You’ll be the office hero.
