It's located 480 kilometres to the southwest of the country's capital, Paris.

Latresne is only 25 kilometres away and boasts some excellent sights. The Contemporary Art Museum and the Chateau Haut Brion alone make the trip worthwhile. If you're still not sold, you should also have a look at Place de la Bourse.

Make sure you bring a picnic hamper and a blanket so you can indulge in a leisurely bite beside the water at Royan Beach or Saint-Georges-de-Didonne Beach.

The soothing sounds of the natural world await you at the House of Nature. It's located just 30 kilometres away, so you don't have to be stuck in a car all day. Caves la Vignolle, 9 kilometres away, is another recommended option.

Slip on some navy, white and maroon and watch the Union Bordeaux Bègles in action at their home ground, Chaban-Delmas Stadium. Located 25 kilometres away in Bordeaux, you can also go and cheer along the Football Club des Girondins de Bordeaux.
