You won't need to be stuck inside a car all day to see a bit of nature. Just 40 kilometres out of Hubao, Chao Lake is a fabulous place to kick back and relax. Even more peaceful surrounds await at Ziwei Cave, 40 kilometres away.

Are you passionate about sports? Then take a look at the event schedule at Anhui Laomingguang Stadium, located 25 kilometres to the west in Baohe.

If you've got ample time, why not head to a few close-by places? Hefei and Chao Hu are 30 kilometres and 50 kilometres away, respectively.

Liuan, 100 kilometres to the west, may be worth a day trip. You can use it as a base when stopping by Suzhou North Tower Park, the Anhui Museum and Riverfront Park. If you're still not persuaded, other nearby sights include Liuan Twin Towers and Wanxi Martyrs Cemetery.
