Mercure Hotel Geelong - Geelong Hotels

Mercure Hotel Geelong

Cnr Gheringhap & Myers St, Geelong - Map
"A quick trip to Geelong to see Epworth."
Before we arrived help was provided. Upon arrival we were treated with a welcoming respect, quite friendly. Our stay was comfortable & as hoped. TV operation is dodgy ( the front connection fell off). Terrific shower in a small room. Generally the building is showing signs of wear & tear that can be cosmeticaly overcome. Night restaurant staff were OK. Breakfast staff were "inconvenienced" by the guests, not very focussed on their job. A great location and we would stay again.

Comfort Inn Eastern Sands

1 Bellerine Street, Geelong - Map
"Nice comfy room. Close to beach. "
We girls and I stayed 1 night as we had a competition in Geelong. Staff were very friendly and upgraded us to a room with 3 beds so we didn't have to share a bed. Room was clean and beds were comfy. Only thing I was disappointed with was there was no cutlery in the room at all. I hadn't packed any so we had to make a dash to the Indian restaurant next door for some plastic ones. Other then that we were very happy and would stay again.

"Good location"
My room was very comfortable unfortunately the only view was to a car park and office buildings. The wash hand basin in the bathroom was badly cracked and leaked water on the floor and cabinet. Reported it to housekeeping. Other than the basin and view the room was comfortable and in a great location.

Stayed at Quest Geelong to attend Cadel Evans People's Ride. Will stay in Geelong for this event next year too but will try to find somewhere closer to the action. Long walk home each day. Usually have set for 4 people - only one bowl for cereal etc. Staff were delightful and car parking excellent.

    Hotels In Geelong

Longing for Geelong? Only an hour’s drive south west of Melbourne, Geelong’s way more than just a pit stop on your way to Victoria’s Great Ocean Road. So why not make a weekend of it? Take advantage of all this city has to offer with our great range of Geelong hotels and accommodation.

    Waterfront Playground

Geelong is Victoria’s second largest city, Australia’s largest non-capital city, and home to over 200,000 people. Nestled on the Corio Bay of Port Phillip, many of the city’s highlights can be found by the waterfront. Take a trip back to your childhood with a visit to Carousel Pavilion, on the Quay at Waterfront Geelong. Creatively named, the Carousel Pavilion houses a fully restored steam driven, hand carved Armatige-Herschell wooden carousel, built in 1892, the only one of its kind in Australia. Wander amongst the numerous public art works located along the Waterfront, like the sculptured bollards depicting iconic characters from the city’s past, or the modern Shark Fin and cargo box sculptures. Or just grab an ice-cream and soak up the pristine bay views. If the weather permits, take a dip in the art deco style pool located on the promenade.

    Art and Heritage

After gold was discovered in the 1850, Victoria began to boom and Geelong’s population rapidly increased. History buffs can learn more about the regions’ past at the Geelong Heritage Centre. Art lover? Then a visit to the Geelong Gallery is a must! Established in 1895, it’s one of Australia’s oldest and best regional galleries and is home to over 4000 works ranging from colonial pieces to contemporary works. For a different look at the city’s history, head to the Old Geelong Gaol. Built in 1864, the goal houses some of the state’s most dangerous criminals. The gaol was closed in 1991 and with the prisoners long gone, the Old Geelong Gaol is now open to the public. Visit during the day for a look at what life was like in the prison. Or, if you’re brave enough, you can even go on a ghost tour at night. Spooky!

    Shopping and Dining

There are stacks of places to grab a meal or a drink in Geelong. Relax at one the many cafes, pubs and restaurants spread throughout town and by the waterfront, or grab some takeaway and have a picnic by the bay! Melbourne isn’t the only city in Victoria where you can shop til you drop. You can also give your credit card a work out in Geelong. The Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre and Market Square Shopping Centre both boast an impressive number of retailers. For a bit of a different shopping experience, the Mill Markets are well worth a look. Home to hundreds of stall holders and dealers, here you can find just about anything and everything: furniture, vintage clothing, records, books, homewares, memorabilia and collectables to name a few.

    Getting There

Just over an hour from Melbourne, Geelong is great spot for a weekend away or the first stop on your way to the Great Ocean Road. So take a look at our Geelong hotels and accommodation and book that road trip in ASAP.
