Do you know what a quay is? It’s usually a structure on the bank of a river or a harbour where boats can dock.
It’s the same as a wharf, but why they call it a quay instead of a wharf is beyond us. Anyways, we’d like to see you travel to the Singapore River Planning Area and hang out in Clarke Quay, one of three major quays on the river. Browse lastminute.com.au’s great offers on holidays to Clarke Quay so you can get nostalgic with old toys, tour the country’s finest museum and generally have a grand ol’ time.
Before you do anything, get a vehicle from one of lastminute.com.au’s Clarke Quay car hire options. Once that’s been handled, make your way to the Mint Museum of Toys, where you’ll feel like you’ve been transported back to your childhood. Where else can you find a 50,000-piece collection of toys spanning 25 years? The toys range from spinning tops, Rubik’s cubes and Darth Vader masks. The Force is strong with this one!
No Clarke Quay holiday can go down without checking out the Asian Civilisations Museum, Singapore’s newest and biggest gallery. If you’re big into pan-Asian cultures, this place will be your Shangri-La. Some of the coolest relics on display are the Dragon Robes. These aren’t your everyday cotton bathrobes you get in a hotel. Nope—these puppies covered the shoulders of Chinese emperors. Solid silk, baby.
You’ll save so much money with a Clarke Quay package you won’t know what to do with it…so how about spending some of it at The Arcade? It’s a shopping centre consisting mostly of small vendors selling local goods and crafts. But if you’re looking to really splurge, head over to the Funan DigitalLife Mall. If you fancy yourself a geek, this is where you want to be. Every new gadget on the market can be found here. Silicon Valley who?
The Singapore River Planning Area is full of restaurants, so when you’re done shopping, follow your appetite to nearby Robertson Quay. Sink your teeth into a dish of Hainanese chicken rice, one of the national dishes of Singapore. And you’d be nuts not to treat yourself to a fiery plate of chili crab. It’s really not that hot, despite the name, but it is that good.
Good thing you’re taking a holiday in Clarke Quay, because most of Singapore’s nightlife is located around the river. All three quays have a healthy serving of bars and nightclubs. Walk, skip or crawl your way through the watering holes along Mohamed Sultan Road and see where you end up. Hopefully, it’ll be back at the comfy hotel you got with our Singapore holiday packages.
The time has come for you to leave your ordinary life behind. Go now. Check out our unbelievable offers on Clarke Quay holiday packages and tell everybody you’ll see them in a couple weeks. Actually, just take a month off. You deserve it!
