Holidays in Bidiya

Relaxation. Adventure. Relaxation. Adventure. Off to Bidiya but can't decide what type holiday you want? Don't get in a fluster! We'll help sort it out.

It's located 140 kilometres south of Muscat, the capital of Oman.

Bidiya is within easy reach of some lovely natural attractions. Wahiba Sands is 9 kilometres away and is well worth looking around.

Educate yourself on a past era with a visit to Al Muntarib Fort.

One way to spoil yourself in Bidiya is to shop until you drop at Bidiya Marketplace.

The nearby destinations of Wadi Bani Khalid and Ibra are worth going to. They're located 45 kilometres northeast and 50 kilometres northwest away, respectively. Get in a car and see what they're about!

Go on an adventure and visit some attractions in Sur. This destination is 80 kilometres to the east and not far from the Sur Marine Museum, Al Ayjah Lighthouse and Sunaysilah Fort. That being said, you shouldn't miss Bilad Sur Castle and Al Ayjah Fort either.

To really experience a place is to immerse yourself in the local food and drink, so get ready to crunch, munch, slurp and sip your way through Ash Sharqiyah North Governorate. The only thing you need to bring with you is a healthy appetite!

If you're flicking through a menu, there's a good chance you'll come across dishes with fish or lamb. They're some ingredients regularly used in the kitchens here.

Of course, you can't visit Bidiya without tasting mashuai (spit-roasted kingfish) or maqbous (rice dish). Popular with residents and considered signature recipes, they are an essential experience for anyone who loves food.

'Stressed' spelled backwards is 'desserts', and we don't believe in coincidences. There's no more scrumptious way to let your problems melt away than with lokhemat (balls of deep fried flour and yeast), a treat often found on dinner tables here.

Want to immerse yourself in the Birthday of Sultan Qaboos celebrations? Mark down the 18th of November in your diary and get ready to let your hair down with the locals!

When you're set to fly home, make sure you have plenty of time to head to Seeb International Airport (MCT). Sitting 150 kilometres to the north from Bidiya, this is the nearest terminal.
