Holidays in Beyoglu

Is your phone filled with travel inspo quotes? Does the airport make you as excited as a 4-year-old on Christmas morning? You’re a travel junkie, and it’s time to get your next hit in Beyoglu, Istanbul! With so many places to discover and things to keep you entertained, it's not difficult to see why 11,200,000 locals call this prominent city home. Arriving by air? Once you've grabbed your bags at Ataturk International Airport, you'll need to head 14 kilometres northeast to reach Beyoglu. The neighbourhood is 3 kilometres to the north of central Istanbul.

With a good number of the city's best attractions nearby, Beyoglu is a dream for sightseers. From the Hagia Sophia to the Hippodrome, there's lots to keep visitors like yourself on the go. Don't forget to put the Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace on your checklist as well. While you're here, think about exploring some other neighbourhoods to appreciate more of what Istanbul offers. Pera and Asmali Mescit are some great areas that aren't too far away.

If somehow you were unaware of Basilica Cistern, prepare to be awestruck. This leading attraction is just 4 kilometres south of Beyoglu.

Not sure what to do in the centre of the city? Feast your eyes on Galata Tower and Bosphorus Bridge. Alternatively, have a look around Dolmabahce Palace and Spice Bazaar.

Cicek Pasaji, the Levent Tennis Club, Istanbul Jumping and The Club are great excuses to let your hair down and relax.

Call on a few cultural attractions to understand the real essence of the area. The Gallery Apel, the Sanatorium Gallery, the Akbank Culture and Arts Centre and the Kasa Gallery shouldn't be missed.

While you can easily see a lot of art on your laptop these days, there's nothing better than inspecting the real thing. Take in the region's creative side by visiting the Istanbul Modern Art Museum, the Pera Museum, the Mosaic Museum and the Turkish and Islamic Art Museum.

From interactive activities to mind‐boggling objects and artefacts, museums have something for visitors of all ages. If you find yourself stuck in horrible weather, why not make your way over to Florence Nightingale Museum, the Museum of Innocence, the Istanbul Military Museum and the Rahmi M Koc Museum?

You can't beat the atmosphere of anticipation when a show is due to get under way. Take your seat and wait for the curtains to go up at Nardis Jazz Club, Cemal Resit Rey Concert Hall, Garaj Istanbul and Istanbul Jazz Center.

Nothing beats a holiday with energetic kids to keep you feeling youthful. Unleash the child within at TurkuaZoo, Corkulu Ali Pasa Medresesi, the Atatürk Library and the Madame Tussauds Istanbul.

Are the kids starting to become impatient with all the sightseeing? Give them a break and head to some of the action-packed family attractions you can find nearby. Miniaturk, Vialand, Babalu Park and the Tunel Karting are favourites in the area.

If you enjoy spending time in Mother Nature, schedule an outing to Camlica Hill, Piyer Loti, Suada Island and Sultans Trail.

If the chaos of the city is getting a bit much, head to one of the nearby local parks. Taksim Gezi Park, Gulhane Park, Yildiz Park and Macka Park are delightful spots to take a relaxing stroll.

A trip away is a great time to splash your cash and pick up a souvenir or two. Be sure to drop into Grand Bazaar, Istanbul Cevahir Shopping and Entertainment Centre, Capitol Mall and Akmerkez!

Taksim Square, the Cagaloglu Hamami, the Istanbul Archaeology Museum and Beylerbeyi Palace can give you a glimpse into the area's past.

Sacred places such as the Suleymaniye Mosque, Chora Church, Church of St. George and the Rustem Pasha Mosque can provide you with a greater understanding of the region's faith. Relax in the peaceful atmosphere and take some time to think.

Do you go nuts for soccer? If so, make sure you bring some red and yellow with you to wildly cheer on the Galatasaray at Turk Telekom Arena.
