It sits 370 kilometres to the west of the country's capital, Berlin.

Ankum is close to some alluring natural sights. Doerenther Cliffs is 35 kilometres away and is well worth a wander around.

If you're looking to do some exploring, add a day trip to Recke to your plan. This locality is 20 kilometres to the southwest and is the home of the City Museum and the Alte Feuerwache Ibbenbueren Auto Technik Museum. After some more ideas? Wallenhorst is 25 kilometres to the southeast of Ankum and offers the Heger Tor and St Peter's Cathedral.

The Osnabrueck Castle, Dom Sankt Petrus and Marienkirche are all pretty close to Osnabrueck, 30 kilometres to the south. Need a few more reasons to check it out? Bucksturm and Half-Timbered Houses are not far away either.
