Cairns Ukelele Festival

The Cairns Ukulele Festival is an annual festival held the first week of July in Cairns, North Queensland Australia. The festival runs for over a week and comprises a range of events, such as a charity uke art exhibition, concerts and workshops by ukulele royalty from around the globe as well as sightseeing tours. No matter what musical taste, what age or background, the Cairns Ukulele Festival has something for everyone!

Thursday night July 5th is the opening night of the festival at the Six Degrees Bar at the Hilton.

New this year is the Wavedancer Low Isles Ukulele Cruise; a cruise to the Low Isles on the Great Barrier Reef in a sailing boat, held on Thursday July 5th.

On Friday evening there is the Australian Ukulele Showcase featuring up and coming players as well as established Australian acts. The Hilton ballroom will be the stage of all this talent.

The Lanikai Ukulele Day at Fogarty Park is one of the biggest events of the festival; a free community festival day with performances by ukulele clubs from around Australia, local schools and groups, as well as international artists and the already famous World Record Attempt.

Sunday (8th July) is for many another highlight of the festival with over 9 hours of concerts by ukulele royalty from around the globe. Acts include ukulele blues man Manitoba Hal from Canada, ukulele jazz artist Paul Hemmings from the USA and ukulele star Herb Ohta Jr. from Hawaii and Seaman Dan.
