Overview
The 3 star Speech House is a 31 bedroom hotel dating from 1676 when it was used as a hunting lodge for King Charles II. Within easy access of main road and rail links the Speech house is your ideal venue to explore the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside. Comfortably appointed bedrooms, several with four-poster beds have been tastefully refurbished and offer modern facilities while retaining their original charm, most overlooking the romantic wilderness of the surrounding Forest of Dean. The beamed Verderer's Court restaurant reflects the room's continuing use as a courthouse for the Foresters of Dean, while the more intimate Freeminers Restaurant maintains links with one of the unique Forest traditions of Gloucestershire.
Our bar and restaurant are open to both residents and non residents. They offer a perfect environment for informal meals, light snacks, evening dinner or a special celebration, all under the personal guidance of our Head Chef, Anthony Lewington. And if you are looking for a place to stay and enjoy the surrounding walking, cycling and local activities, then look no further.
We can also arrange facilities for up to 150 people for weddings and conferences.
