Vista del Sol is a 15 acre property set on thirty thousand year old sand dunes enjoying 360 degree views of an unspoiled panorama 1 km back from the beach. The property faces west to the Coast over wetland bush valleys and ancient sand dunes and magnificent sunsets, southwest to Kapiti Island, north over rolling farmland and northeast to the Tararua Mountain Ranges.

Luxuriously appointed bedrooms, ensuites and house. All 4 suites are spacious, extremely comfortable and decorated to a luxurious standard, with superb king size beds, an armchair together with table and chairs, and each accompanied by a large fully tiled modern ensuites in natural earth colors, with tiled showers, heated floors, mirrors and towel rails. For your comfort you have spa robes, large fluffy towels, facecloths, together with bathroom soaps, shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
The Kapiti Suite captures the afternoon sun and picturesque views south and west toward Kapiti Island and over the bush wetlands and hills to the Coast. The beautifully finished suite is comfortable and spacious. It is fitted out with one of the most luxurious king beds available in New Zealand, a comfortable arm chair, touch lamps, table and chairs, a triple wardrobe together with mirrors, finished with art work and flowers. The Kapiti ensuite is fully tiled, with underfloor heating, heated mirror, heated towel rails, hairdrier, clothing hooks, with vanity, glassed shower, toilet and stool.
The Tararua Suite enjoys the morning sun and superb views North and East into the Tararua Range. This suite is the largest at Vista del Sol, it is very spacious and is furnished with one of the most luxurious king beds available in New Zealand, a comfortable arm chair, touch lamps, table and chairs, a triple wardrobe together with mirrors, finished with art work and flowers.
The Tararua suite has a large ensuite which is fully tiled and fitted with both glassed shower and separate bath, complete with underfloor heating, heated mirror, heated towel rails, hairdrier, clothing hooks, vanity, toilet and stool.
The Derham Suite is a spacious suite on the ground floor that collects the afternoon sun and lovely views to the south and west toward Kapiti and over the bush wetlands and hills to the Coast. It is a spacious room furnished with a Californian King or Twin King single option, touch lamps, table and chairs, a separate wardrobe, finished with art work and flowers.
The Derham Suite has good wheelchair access, additionally with a full care ensuite with handrails and wheelchair access to basin, shower and toilet. It is fully tiled and fitted with underfloor heating, heated mirror, heated towel rails, hairdrier, clothing hooks and open shower with controls for care giver. You may use the stairs or lift access to the upper floor and mobility ramps into Vista del Sol.
The Waikanae Suit has twin or king option, with views into trees surrounding Vista del Sol and the hills. The Waikanae ensuite is fully tiled, with underfloor heating, heated mirror, heated towel rails, hairdrier, clothing hooks, with vanity, glassed shower, toilet
The indoor Island Spa where you can Soak and relax.
We provide huge spa towels and soft Spa robes for you to enjoy your visit to island spa, soak and relax in the luxurious indoor spa set in its own room with a separate ensuite only 20 meters from the main house. For those who wish for more pampering separate bookings can be arranged to visit our beauty and spa therapist.
A full breakfast is complementary and included in the tariff. For dining at night there are over 20 cafes and restaurants close by, if you wish to stay in to eat at Vista del Sol please inquire as to the superb meals that originate from Lynette's Dutch, French, German, Irish, and South African heritage.
Relax, have a drink at Mikes bar, or watch a film in the evening. There is privacy with three lounges and a library or enjoy meeting other guests and the hosts.
DVD, SKY, CD, Surround sound is available in two lounges or the theatre
For our guests comfort there is no smoking and no pets indoors but feel free to visit Satin the Timor pony, a miniature horse with a great attitude, or Echo her bigger Pony friend, or walk with Brodie, the golden retriever.
Feel free to spend some time with Mike or Lynette, who have wide interests, have travelled extensively in NZ and have worked internationally for over 20 years, English, Afrikaans, Dutch are spoken with some French and German.

Getting There
We are one hour North of Wellington and one hour South of Palmerston North, a one half km off State highway 1
Mike or Lynette are happy to pick you up from Paraparaumu or Waikanae by arrangement when you are arriving by Coach, plane or train
Bus Services
Stop at Waikanae and Paraparumu from the airports, train station and most cities
Commuter Trains
Leave from Wellington train station 1/2 hourly and stop at Paraparaumu, whilst Waikanae has two trains at morning and night from Wellington and Palmerston North. The Auckland - Wellington trains also stop at Paraparaumu morning and night.
Directions to Vista del Sol Estate
If you are travelling North from Wellington
Take State Highway 1 - approx 55km north of Wellington is Waikanae (1 hour from the airport by car)
Drive North through Waikanae on SH1 - we are 6.4 km north of Waikanae
Stay on SH1 past Peka Peka road,
Stay on SH1 past Te Kowhai road,
Keep to the left on the passing lane because you turn left at Te Hapua road at the end of the passing lane. (6.4km from 2nd traffic light in Waikanae)
Turn first right into Derham Road.
2nd post box on the right is 20 Derham Road.
Drive up the hill drive to the large sand-coloured house with a grey roof, you can't miss it.
If you are travelling South toward Wellington
From Otaki travel 9 km south on SH1
From Te Horo travel 3.4km South on SH1
Turn right into Te Hapua Road off State Highway 1
Turn first right into Derham Road.
2nd post box on the right is 20 Derham Road.
Drive up the hill drive to the large sand-coloured house with a grey roof, you can't miss it.

Site is flat and sealed or paved with good parking close to House and well away from the street. Wheel chair and disabled access to house. Internal lift in house.
