The Gatehouse at Margrain Vineyard offers a unique opportunity to stay ‘amongst the vines’ on a vineyard dedicated to producing fine wines. Close to other world renowned Martinborough wineries, vineyards, restaurants and the Village Square, The Gatehouse makes an ideal base for your visit to the Wairarapa.
Perfect for groups or individual bookings, The Gatehouse is located across the road from Margrain Vineyard Villas, next door to the Cellar Door and cafe. Set amongst a private garden and vineyard, the recently renovated Gatehouse offers four private rooms, each with their own entrance and ensuite.
Designed for privacy and comfort, rooms are serviced daily and include an in-room continental breakfast. All rooms are equipped with Sky TV, tea/coffee making facilities, toaster, refrigerator, clock radio, iron, ironing board, hairdryer, electric heater and electric blankets.
We welcome you to join us for a vineyard experience. See at first hand the cycle of the vine from budburst through to maturation and harvest. Wander through the vines, walk to the village, walk the wine trail or simply relax on the verandah and enjoy a glass of our award winning wine.

Particularly suitable for the distinctive executive retreat, Margrain Vineyard will make your meeting memorable. Two conference rooms are available, one suitable for up to 30 people the other more suitable for smaller groups of up to 15 delegates.
Getting There
Check in at Margrain Vineyard Villas Reception. From Featherston travel towards Martinborough: As you arrive into Martinborough take the first left into Princess Street. Continue down this road - you will pass New York Street West on the left, then Nelsons Road on the left. Continue straight, the Margrain Vineyard driveway is 200m past the corner of Nelsons Road and Princess Street, on the left hand side.
