Overview
Experience New Zealand at its best and most natural in a peaceful and private valley, bordered by rocky stream and native bush. Four 1-2 bedroom cottages and chalets. Centrally located on the Coromandel Peninsula, an ideal base for seeing all the area has to offer.

Accommodation is fully self-contained, private, immaculate and comfortable; decks look out over bush and stream, serviced daily. Enjoy swimming, kayaking, gemstone gathering, gold panning, BBQs along the river, bush walks, native plant trails and guided night walk to the glow-worm grotto - all provided free for our guests.

Getting There
Te Mata Lodge is very easy to find. Once you arrive in Thames, just follow the coast road north (only one road out of town!) until you come to Te Mata Bay. (You will pass through a few small settlements - Te Puru, Waiomu and Tapu - before you arrive at Te Mata) It is about 20 minutes from Thames but the drive is very scenic. Continue driving to the north of the Bay, cross the bridge and turn immediately to the right onto Te Mata Creek Road. Follow the road about 1 k up the hill and you will come to our sign "Te Mata Lodge". Come down the drive - 400 metres, and we will meet you and show you around before taking you to your cottage.

While there is a pub(restaurant, garden bar etc) and shop in Tapu, just a couple of Ks down the road, you may want to stock up on provisions in Thames before you come up the coast.
