Overview
Located at the southern end of Lake Taupo, Sportsmans Lodge is the hidden accommodation gem of the Lake Taupo district and has a unique, tranquil character of its own. Its relaxed and comfortable surroundings has special appeal for fly fishermen, skiers and snowboarders, walkers, travellers and visitors to the Tongariro National Park. It is right on the doorstep of some of the world's most famous fishing waterways, just 30 minutes drive to Mt Ruapehu's ski fields, Turoa and Whakapapa, the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and many of the other amazing National Park walks and other outdoor activities such as mountain biking and white water rafting. Transport to and from these activities can be arranged through the Lodge office. Out the Lodge back gate there is the walking trail the follows the Tongariro River; perfect for a late afternoon stroll to unwing after travelling.

The Lodge, set in a picturesque garden, has nine quality, comfortable, inexpensive double/twin single rooms with private ensuites. Guests share a large, fully equipped kitchen and lounge that has an open fire, pool table, TV and Wi-Fi kiosk. Adjoining the Lounge is a sundeck with barbecue. The Lodge is perfect for those who enjoy meeting new people and sharing stories of their travels.

Nestled in amongst the Lodge garden is a self contained cottage; the perfect hidden hideaway It is a wonderful, quiet place for those who want to relax, unwind and enjoy great Turangi hospitality.

There is plenty of off road parking and is easy walking distance to the Turangi town centre and a number of eating places, from takeaways to fine dining. It is a 5 minute drive to the soak, swim, soothe and relax in the mineral waters at the Tokaanu Hot Pools.

For those, who have a passion for stalking wild rainbow and brown trout, Sportsmans Lodge is the ideal accommodation option. The Lake Taupo district waterways are world renown and the Lodge is central to them all - Tongariro river, Lake Taupo and all its tributaries, Whanganui River, Lake Otomangakau to name a few. The Lodge is privileged to have Chris Brennan, Professional Fly Fishing Guide, available to guests. Chris knows all the secrets of the wild rainbow and brown trout and knows exactly where to stalk the big ones. Chris offers door to door packages for both summer and winter fly fishing that is tailored to suit your needs and budget. A day with Chris is action packed, fun, successful and one you will always remember. The Lodge also has a full fishing cleaning facility and drying room to make the life of a fisherman a whole lot easier.

Business Facilities
Sportsmans Lodge is a great facility for small conferences, team retreats and family reunions. Catering is easy with the large, fully equipped kitchen or restaurants within easy walking distance. The large Lodge lounge provides a relaxed learning environment. Wireless internet is available throughout the Lodge.

Getting There
Travelling south from Taupo, take the first left turn(into Link Road) after the Tongariro River bridge. At the end of Link Road turn left into Taupahi Road, travel 500 metres and turn right into the driveway opposite the Sportsman?s Lodge sign.

If you are travelling North from Wellington, turn right at the intersection by Shell Service Station and Burger King into Ahori Street. At the end of this street, turn left into Taupahi Road. Travel along this road past Link Road until you see the Sportsmans Lodge sign (about 1 km). Turn right into the Lodge driveway.
