Overview
Golden Sand Beachfront Accommodation is 4 star qualmark rated holiday home that offers two self contained apartments right on the secluded beach at Cable Bay, Doubtless Bay, Northland, New Zealand. Each apartment has 2 bedrooms with one queen in 1 bedroom and 2 singles or 1 king in the other. The apartments are equipped with a full kitchen, a comfortable air conditioned lounge and dining area and a well appointed luxury bathroom. The lounge area extends onto a large deck with adjustable awnings, deck chairs and BBQ. For your comfort, there is air conditioning, a plasma TV, DVD Prime and Freeview and free broadband.

The apartments are recently redecorated in a modern but retaining the charms of the 1960s. Children are welcome and pets by arrangement only. Smoking on the deck is permitted.

You can relax on the deck watching the sun and moon rise and set; see or swim with dolphins which often play metres from the deck; swim, snorkel and fish just metres from your apartment in the pristine waters of Cable Bay Doubtless Bay. Or collect shells on the pinkish beach a few paces from your apartment. If you want more action, there is a playground metres from the apartment; or visit historic Mangonui with restaurants and bars.

Golden Sand is a Qualmarked 3 star plus holiday home. What we hope to have created is a kiwi bach with modern amenities. Each apartment is individually decorated with the added touch of 1960s decorations, (remember the bevelled mirror Grandma's house?) comfortable furnishings and modern conveniences. Getting There
Fly to Kaitaia and hire a car from Northland Rentals from $39 per day. This is a 20min drive to Golden Sand.

Golden Sand is 4.5 hours North of Auckland by road and 1 hour North of the Bay of Islands.

Driving: 13.5kms north of Kawakawa ( where the Hundertwasser toilets are) turn left onto SH10 at Pakaraka; After 14.2 km go into roundabout, take exit 2 onto SH 10 following signage for Doubtless Bay and Mangonui; After 64.7 km, ( passing through Kaeo and Coopers Beach) turn right onto the Beach reserve ? before the bridge and playground. It is signposted for the Driftwood Lodge Motel which is right next door.
This is about 60 minutes drive in total.

If you are travelling by bus: There is a daily service to Doubtless Bay

For arrivals by air: Airports at Kaitaia (25 minutes drive) and Kerikeri or Bay of Islands (60 minutes drive). We can arrange rental cars from either airport. Please indicate on your booking and we will assist with rental car arrangement.
