At the Garden Motel we have 16 units from which to choose from ranging in size from small studios to two-bedroom units, including 2 wheelchair access units. As a qualmark 3 star-plus property,our goal is to provide our guests with a relaxed, warm and comfortable home away from home with friendly and personalised service from the time you book to the time you leave. We cater for individuals, couples, families, corporate and hospital guests, small as well as large groups. We are a pet-friendly motel.
We are situated in a residential area at the northern of George Street approximately 0.5km from the Botanical Gardens, restaurants, cafes, bars, New World supermarket and the Garden’s Shopping Centre directly north of us. We are a few minutes walk away from the University of Otago’s main campus area. We are approximately 1.0km away from the edge of the George Street main shopping district and less than 2.0km from the Octagon to the south of us.

Each of our units is self-contained, serviced daily, is non-smoking (smoking is permitted outside and away from the units) and has cooking facilities, these varying according to the size of the unit. There are heaters so that you can control the room temperature to suit, a telephone, a fridge, electric blankets on each bed, a hairdryer, an iron, ironing board and television with 5 Sky channels. Upon checking-in, guests are offered a jug of milk and the chance to order a complimentary newspaper to be delivered to your doorstep each morning. For the busy traveller or for those wanting a wee treat, a continental breakfast can be delivered to your unit and with the press of a button, wireless internet access is available in your unit and around the motel complex at a very reasonable rate.

Getting There
By car from the North on State Highway 1.
Exit the highway at the sign for George Street. Proceed through the trafic lights and the motel is approximately 30 metres on the left hand side.

By car from the South on State Highway 1. Follow SH1 into Dunedin and up the one way system. Pass Cadbury World on the right then the Otago Museum also on the right. Continue up the one way system, over Dundas Street and Howe Street. At the next intersection turn left into Duke Street. At the traffic lights turn left into Greorge Street and the motel is approximately 30 metres on the left hand side.

Parking Info
If travelling by car, it can be safely parked off the street. Alternatively, for those without transport, we are situated on the main bus route into the city with a bus stop right outside the front gate.
