Getting There
Scheduled shuttle service to Methven from Christchurch City or Christchurch International Airport is available. Advance booking is essential for this service.

An easy 1.5 hour drive from Christchurch Internation Airport.

Set your speedo to zero. There are two ways to get the Methven from Christchurch, either :
Main South Road (SH1) or the Scenic Route.
The Main South Road route, travel South along Main South Road (SH1) you will come to Rakaia (59km). Continue South 400m along SH1, then turn Right onto Rakaia Barhill Methven Road to Methven (95km).
The Scenic Route travels West towards Arthurs Pass along SH73. The West Coast Road takes you to West Melton (23km), Kirwee (37km), then Darfield (46km). Turn Left onto SH77 near the West end of Darfield. Make your way to Glentunnel (57km) turning Left onto SH72 (the Inland Scenic Route) then through to Windwhistle (80km). Continue along SH72, crossing the Rakaia River bridge, then after a short distance turn Left at the Mount Hutt Ski Area intersection or continue briefly until you reach SH77 then turn Left to Methven (95km).
