Overview
The Bucket Tree Lodge is situated in Willowbank Reserve occupying a site of historical significance in Wellington and offering accommodation and a licensed restaurant. We offer 10 spacious units and great for families.
We offer a home away from home where you can assure of a personal friendly service.
Meals are available by prior arrangement.

Being only 5 minutes from Porirua City and 30 minutes from the Kapiti Coast we have several major shopping complexes, hospitals including Kenepuru,and the Te Rauparaha Arena close by. Beaches, Golf Courses are within 15 minutes drive.

The property takes its name from the large historic tree known as the "Bucket Tree" that was planted in the 1860s. The tree is shaped like an upturned bucket and is pruned annually by the local council.

We offer a range of lodge accommodation from Bed & Breakfast, Studio Suites & One, Two and Three Bedroom Motel Apartments with Self Catering facilities. The larger motel/apartments have ovens; dishwashers etc. and are ideal for longer term stays.
We also offer a function centre and cater for family birthdays, weddings etc.

Getting There
If coming by Car:

Tawa/Grenada North exit (second after Johnsonville). Follow directions and proceed through two roundabouts. After crossing short bridge turn immediately right into our street capped Boscobel Lane. We are the only property on the right hand side of the street.
If you are travelling from North by car then the Tawa/Grenada North Exit is 5 kms or minutes south of Porirua City. See above directions as for traveling from Wellington.


If arriving by Flight

Wellington airport is only 45 minutes away from the property. Shuttle buses are available from the airport. We can provide best options given your time of arrival if contacted in advance.


Ferry Services (Cook Strait Ferry Terminals):

These are situated at the northern end of Wellington City. Travel time 12-15 minutes by car or take free shuttle to the Wellington Railway Station and catch train.
TRAVELLING TIMES: Taupo 5 hours, Napier 4 hours, Wanganui 3.25 hours.


If coming by Train:

Catch the Paraparumu/Porirua train and get off at Takapu Road station. This usually the first stop out of the city, Make sure the train stops at all stations. You can see our property from the Station Platform. The journey is 12 minutes and train departs every 30 minutes.
