Overview
Between the snow-capped mountains of the Southern Alps and the turquoise blue waters of the Kaikoura coast, you will find Amuri Estate Retreat. ‘Amuri’, means ‘the land of the shining tussock’, named for the wind that ripples over the Hanmer basin grasslands.
The tranquility and privacy amidst a spectacular setting of snow-capped mountains, clear blue skies, natural hot springs, and access to New Zealand’s famed high-country stations the Molesworth and St James, make your stay at Amuri Estate Retreat a unique experience. Explore over the 26 acres of olive groves, fruit and nut orchard, native plantings and walking tracks along a spring-fed stream.
Amuri Estate Retreat, Qualmark 5-star and rated Enviro-Gold for Responsible Tourism, combines modern contemporary accommodation with the down-to-earth practice of rural life. As daylight fades, relax on your private patio and watch the last of the sun's rays illuminate the peaks or gather with other guests by the fire in the living rooms for cocktails, conversation and antipasto. Original New Zealand artwork, sumptuous furnishings, exquisite food, quality local wine, and sparkling company bring together the spirit of warm country hospitality. The Retreat offers 3 rooms each with it's own unique design and views of the mountains. Wallace Peak Cottage is far enough away to be completely private, but close enough to walk down a path to join us for a pre-dinner drink & canapes.
Taste our fabulous fresh extra virgin olive oil with a delicious antipasto platter accompanied by glass of locally produced wine in our ‘A Taste of Italy’ comparative oil tasting sessions.
