Overview
The Morpeth Convent was built in the very early 1900's and as the name suggests, was the home to an order of Catholic nuns. Set in lovely grounds this beautifully restored building with its own private chapel is now once again operational as bed and breakfast accommodation. The property is located in the historical village of Morpeth. Morpeth offers a number of excellent restaurants, cafes, boutiques and galleries - you definitely won't be board. Hunter valley wine country is a 30 minute drive, the beaches of Newcastle are a 30 minute drive - Morpeth is in fact situated in the heart of the Hunter. The convent itself offers five privately ensuited guestrooms. All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, bathroom toiletries, hairdryers, bathrobes, flat screen TVs and DVD players and electric blankets are on all of the beds. Your five course gourmet breakfast is included in your tariff and is served each morning in the guest dining room. There is also a very large guest lounge room, the ideal place to curl up with a good book. There is a private chapel on site which is perfect for little weddings ie: up to 30 people, of course we can organise the catering and decorating as well. There is also a board room with a very large table which could also be utilised as a formal dining area. Large verandahs skirt both upstairs and downstairs and on a sunny afternoon, a beautiful place to sit and just relax.

You should continue on Melbourne Street under the railway bridge up to a large roundabout and then follow the signs to Morpeth. Once arriving in the township, follow Swan Street until you arrive at George Street, turn right then follow all of the way until you arrive at Princess Street, turn left and you will see the entrance to the car park of the Morpeth Convent. Alternatively, you can get the train to Maitland and we can organise a transfer as buses don't run frequently, a taxi will set you back around $30.
