Self Drive
The Gladstone Region is intersected by a number of major Australian highways. Queensland’s major coastal touring route, the Bruce Highway, provides many access points to seaside and country locations within the Gladstone Region.
Travelling North
The Gladstone Region starts approximately 450 kilometers north of Brisbane, with several key access points off the Bruce Highway.
Turn off at Miriam Vale for the picturesque Discovery Coast, at the Boyne/Tannum intersection for the seaside communities of Boyne Island and Tannum Sands, or at Benaraby for the harbor city of Gladstone. Take to the hinterland by turning left into Calliope for the Banana Shire and its centre, Biloela.
Travelling South
From Mackay it is about five and a half hours drive, and only one hour’s drive from Rockhampton. Turn off at Mt Larcom to venture into Gladstone, or continue along the Highway for exits to Boyne Island, Tannum Sands and the Discovery Coast. Turn right into Calliope for your exit the Gladstone’s hinterland, the Banana Shire.
Port Curtis Way
This is Highway 58 through Gladstone, between Benaraby to the south and Mt Larcom to the north. The diversion adds just 6 kilometers to the coastal drive.
Inland Highways
Travelling north along The Country Way you will arrive at Biloela, the hubs Banana Shire respectively. Turn right at Biloela and enjoy the natural splendor of Gorges Way. For those taking a journey north along the Leichardt Highway, enter the Gladstone Region through the Dawson Valley, south of the township of Theodore and take in the stunning scenery the hinterland has to offer.

Air Services
The quickest route to Gladstone is of course, by air. Jump aboard one of the many daily QantasLink and Virgin Airlines flights for a quick 50min trip between Gladstone and Brisbane. Services are also provided on a daily basis from Gladstone to the northern cities of Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville and Cairns.
The Gladstone Airport is also the departure point for aerial services to Heron and Wilson Islands. In addition, Thangool Airport, near Biloela, operates daily QantasLink flights to Brisbane.

Travel Train
Queensland Rail operates regular services to the Gladstone Region on many Travel Train services, the main being the Tilt Train, which services the Gladstone Region regularly, stopping at Gladstone and Miriam Vale.

Greyhound Australia’s services call in to various coastal and country spots throughout the Gladstone Region. Daily services to Gladstone stop at the Dawson Road, BP Service Station. Visit Greyhound Australia for coach services.

Boats and Yachts

To Mecure Gladstone from Gladstone Airport:

-From Gladstone Airport turn left onto the Dawson Highway, travel 1.7km through 2 roundabouts.
-At the third roundabout turn right onto Philip Street, travel 3.4km through one roundabout.
-At the “T junction” turn left onto French Street, travel 1.7km.
-At the traffic lights turn right onto Coon Street (sign posted for Barney Point).

Mercure Gladstone is 200m ahead on the left.
