A stunning sandstone building, MacArthur Chambers was constructed between 1931 and 1934, and was originally the headquarters for the Australian Mutual Provident Society. However, the building became an important part of Australian history when in July 1942 American General Douglas MacArthur - Commander-In-Chief of the Allied Forces for the Pacific Region - moved to Brisbane and commandeered the premises as a base to conduct the crucial Pacific Campaign of World War II. And so the building came to be known as MacArthur Chambers. In keeping with this remarkable history, a permanent memorial featuring General MacArthur's original office is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 10am-3pm.

The Property contact number is provided on your booking confirmation. Macarthur Chambers reception hours are Monday to Friday 7:30am - 6.30pm Saturday and Sunday 8am - 12pm.
One under cover car park per apartment is available at $15.00 a day in Secure parking(entrance off Elizabeth Street between Edward and Creek Street). Car Park Height is 2.1 metres larger cars must seek alternative parking. See below for access details.
Upon arrival at Macarthur Chambers Photo ID and a Credit Card pre-authorisation of $300 will be required, this amount is subect to change during major events and will be used to cover incidental items, including (but not limited to): telephone calls, breakages/damages, excessive cleaning charges due to the apartment being left in an unacceptable state, etc. Cash & Debit Cards are NOT an acceptable form of bond when staying with Macarthur Chambers and a valid credit card must be presented upon arrival. **PLEASE NOTE MACARTHUR CHAMBERS DOES NOT ACCEPT DINERS** For further information on this practice, please contact the property directly.
A mid-stay service is provided for stays of 7 nights or more.
Limited rollaway and cot hire available for additional fees. Cot hire is $25 per night and Rollaway/Extra person charge is $50 per night. Please note this MUST be prebooked.

By car: Turbot, Ann, Queen, or Adelaide, then turn into Edward Street. By train: to Central Station, walk straight down Edward Street, property will be on the left.

If no parks are available on Edward Street before check-in please proceed to park in the MacArthur Central car park where you will receive a token, bring this token to Reception where it will be traded for car park access on check-in.
