Overview
Heimat Chalets is a private and secluded holiday retreat – yet easy travelling to almost anywhere in Tasmania!
Equally suitable for couples or a family with children, Heimat offers absolute peace and relaxation in luxury but reasonably priced chalet accommodation on a 40ha (100acre) property located in the heart of the scenic Derwent Valley.
And all of this just 45 minutes from Hobart, 8 minutes from New Norfolk and only 50 minutes from Hobart Airport.
Our accommodation comprises two modern and stylish 2 bedroom 4 star self-contained farmstay chalets and two luxury motorhome ensuite sites set on picturesque farmland. We also manage a lovely 2 bedroom self contained timber cottage on an adjoining property.
Heimat is the Swiss/German word for “homeland” and that is exactly how hosts Linda and Frank Pearce want you to feel whilst staying in one of their chalets – at home.
Enjoy all that our New Norfolk accommodation can offer while you explore Tasmania’s extraordinarily beautiful Derwent Valley and Central Highlands.
Stay a night or two while travelling on the Rivers Run Touring Route on your way from Hobart to Strahan.

Heimat offers self contained or bed and breakfast (for the first morning of your stay) accommodation with crisp country air, spectacular sweeping vistas, and a chance to experience the sounds of silence, watch native animals and abundant birdlife.
You could also try hand feeding and patting our friendly alpacas, sheep, cows, miniature donkey and goat.
In the evening, you may get a chance to experience glorious sunsets fading to a starlit sky under the Southern Cross.

Business Facilities
Our property is not designed for business, however we are happy to assist you to book functions etc close by. Smaller groups and family functions are most popular and welcome.

Getting There
To travel to Heimat Chalets, you need your own car or hire vehicle, Heimat is 50 minutes from Hobart airport and 40 minutes from Hobart city, head North on the A10 to New Norfolk, then take the C184, which leads you to Blackhills Road. The property is well sign posted if you are on the right track! - please do not be afraid to call us if you have lost your way. We especially ask you to advise us if you are later than 18.00
hours. NOTE GPS users, key in 400 Back River Road, New Norfolk, the signs to our property are then straight ahead of you!
Parking Info
Car parking is next to your Chalet, and secure on our property. Should you be arriving with a motorbike we can arrange undercover parking for your bike. All parking is FREE.
