Overview
Claerwen Retreat is located "high above the world" overlooking the Great Ocean Road. It is the highest point in the area, an old aboriginal sacred site, with stunning ocean views. It offers a holiday experience with a difference that is focused on relaxation, self-discovery and personal growth. We support this process in an environment of peaceful solitude, healing nature and luxurious accommodation. Its guesthouse, two cottages and meeting centre are nestled in 130 acres of park, rainforest and fern gullies. The beach is ten minutes away. It is a place where your spirit can rest. Claerwen is an ideal base for tours along Victoria's dramatic west coast.

Claerwen Retreat offers three different styles of accommodation to suit the various needs of different travellers and holiday makers. The main guesthouse offers four spacious double suites with en-suite bathrooms, private lounge areas in the suites, TV, DVD, central heating and panoramic ocean views. And rates include a cooked breakfast for two. The guesthouse also features a spacious library, lounge and dining area with an open fire.

If you would prefer more private accommodation you can choose to stay in one of our two free standing, luxurious, fully self-contained 3 bedroom holiday houses. Each cottage has two double bedrooms with queen and king size beds and one bedroom with two single two beds. The cottages also have open fires in the lounge room, TV, DVD and CD player, spacious sun decks overlooking the coastline and surrounding Otway ranges, an en-suite with a double spa, heating in all rooms, and a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and private BBQ.

For smaller self contained accommodation there are the two studio apartments, both part of the larger meeting centre building, they are a great option for young couples or singles. The slightly larger Yellow Studio offers a Queen size bed on mezzanine floor with spectacular views of the coast, and accessed via a ladder from the ground floor. A separate lounge area with TV, DVD and CD sounds system are located below, as well as a Kitchen and dining area and en-suite bathroom.

The smaller Purple Studio is ideal for singles with a double bed and kitchenette in an open plan setting with spectacular views, TV, DVD, CD sound system and a separate en-suite with a bath.

Claerwen Retreat has a AAA 4 star rating.

Pre-school children are not permitted in the Guesthouse but are welcome in the Cottages.

Getting There
Claerwen Retreat is less than three hours drive from Melbourne. It is located at Crow's Nest Lookout Point, 350 meters above the beach east of Apollo Bay. You will find us in peaceful solitude 5km uphill at the end of Tuxion Road. Tuxion Road is the first turn right after the 50km speed restriction sign approaching Apollo Bay from Melbourne.
*Please note the road leading to the retreat is unsealed. If using a map generated by google or a GPS unit please note that there is no access to Claerwen via Busty Road, Claerwen is accessable only via Tuxion Road after passing through the Apollo Bay township.
