Cairns City Backpackers Hostel is the ideal hostel: small, quiet and friendly, and best of all it is ideally located in a quiet backstreet just a short walk from the heart of Cairns and a 5 minute walk to Cairns Central Shopping Centre.

With a maximum of only 60 guests it is easy to make lifelong friends here. We are not a party hostel, and have a quiet time/no drinking time from 10.30 pm to allow guests to get a good nights sleep. However, the free dinners at the Woolshed Pub will help save you money and let you party till late.

Cairns City Backpackers Hostel consists of two fully renovated Queenslander houses loaded with character, and a tropical, fully landscaped garden which includes many grand old palm trees, a cute swimming pool and lots of hammocks and sun lounges for you to chill out in. The hostel also has a new sofa area to flop yourself into, and a billiard table to challenge your room mates.

Naturally the hostel has full laundry and kitchen facilities and for keeping in touch with friends we have cheap internet at just $3 per hour, and don't forget to bring your laptops because we have wireless as well!

Cairns City Backpackers Hostel offers clean and comfortable air conditioned single, double, twin, 4 and 6 bed dorms. Some have their own private shower facilities and all have fans. All rooms have fresh linen and towels are available free of charge. The hostel also hosts state of the art hi-tech security lockers for your important possessions.

We have high speed broadband for only $3 per hour, and cheap wireless internet.

Getting There
We provide a 24 hour check-in service but you need to let us know in advance if you are going to arrive outside of reception hours so we can organize your key. Our reception is open from 7:30 am till noon, and between 4:30 pm and 8 pm.

We do not have our own bus but there is a shuttle bus from the airport which costs $5 a person from the airport. This is a special discounted price given to guests of our hostel. To get this price you need to pre-book the shuttle bus on the this Cairns Airport Shuttle Bus Website http://www.cairnsairportshuttle.com.au/v2/arrivals.php

Select 'Cairns City Backpackers' as your hotel destination and you will be given the special price of $5 a person. The shuttle bus runs during the arrival time of all flights. For domestic arrivals, please exit the airport building and go to bus parking zone (Bus Bay 6)for the FNQ Airport Shuttle Bus. For the international terminal, there will be someone waiting for you in the arrivals lounge, please wait until they come. If you have booked the shuttle bus and it is more than 15 minutes late, please call Don from Cairns Airport Shuttle on 0432-488783.

A taxi will cost you about $22 from the airport and $10 from the bus terminals.

If you wish to walk from the bus terminals we are a 15 minute walk from the premier bus terminal and a 30 minute walk from the greyhound terminal.

If you are coming in your own car we can be found at 274 Draper Street directly behind Cairns Central shopping centre.A shuttle bus from the airport costs $10 per person and a taxi about $20 per vehicle. From the Greyhound Bus terminal it is about a 30 minute walk, or a $9 taxi ride.
