The Bear is Thredbo's most famous ski lodge and has kept pace with the needs of modern society. Refurbishments over the years have continually improved the Inn with the guest's comfort foremost in the minds of the owners.

The Black Bear is situated right in the heart of Thredbo Alpine Village and guests only have a short walk to the shops and other village amenities. The ski lifts are also just a short walk away so no time is lost travelling. You are right in the heart of all the ski and boarding action on the longest ski runs and the most legendry Black Diamond runs of any resort in Australia with a vertical drops of over twice that found elsewhere. The runs carry you over the most varied and spectacular terrain for the ultimate skiing enjoyment. Snow making is taken seriously and the largest Snow Making system in the Southern Hemisphere is situated in Thredbo so snowfalls are topped up regularly.

Skiers from the advanced to the beginner are all catered for and lessons are available for all the family with children well catered for in their own special beginner programs at Thredboland located at Friday Flats.

Getting There
Diggings terrace runs in a semi circle around the Thredbo Shopping Village. The Black Bear can be found easily by continuing along Diggings Terrace in any direction.

Ski bus's run regularly to the ski lifts however the Black Bear Inn is only 150 metres from the Ski Lifts an easy walk. Snow Boot lockers can be hired at the Ski Lift Centre.

SkiBus and Snowy Mountains Hire Cars have been successfully operating in the region for the past 11 years providing safe and reliable transport to and from Canberra and Cooma Airports to the Ski Resorts, together with general transport needs in and around Jindabyne and the Ski Resorts.

The SkiBus offers a reliable and economical transport from Canberra and Cooma Airports by 12 seater bus and 21 seat coaches. Departure time from the airports and resorts are geared for both flight arrivals and maximum sking time at the resorts.

Snowy Mountains Hire Cars and chauffer driven 4WD vehicles and limousines providing a very personalised service. These vehicles are dedicated to the clients giving the total privacy of a Chauffer driven car and also allowing flexibility of service rather than operating to a timetable.

Parking Info
Car Parking is provided by the Thredbo National Park Authority and all guests must park their cars when not in use in the designated areas for the duration of their stay in Thredbo.
