    Pocket Guide: Tropical North Queensland

Hands up if you think the definition of happiness is cocktails, sunshine and palm trees? That’s right, everyone loves a tropical holiday and we think the best way to kick off those heels and relax is by booking one of our Tropical North Queensland hotels!

Far North Queensland is all about hot days, warm nights and spectacular tropical storms. It's also overloaded with natural attractions so you can get your hippy on and marvel at how truly beautiful Australia’s backyard is. From the beautiful beaches of Port Douglas, the magnificent Daintree is just a quick hop, skip and a jump away. It’s Australia’s largest tropical rainforest and one of the most complex ecosystems on earth. Another fab spot for rainforest adventures, where the rainforest actually meets the sea, is around Cape Tribulation. Just watch out for crocs! Around the Atherton Tablelands you’ll also spot lush greenery everywhere and tonnes of cute little towns like Kuranda. If you’d prefer more beach time, Mission Beach is fab, as is Palm Cove – which are both popular spots but not overrun with tourists (or locals!). For the bigger city punch, you’ll have to drop by Cairns, but even then you can stay around the Cairns beaches to keep the chilled vibes flowing.

All around Tropical North Queensland, a day trip to the Great Barrier Reef is not just possible – it’s a must! There are heaps of tour operators that would love to take you out into the big blue! See technicolour fish and corals so pretty you'll wanna stare at them forever – no wonder this is one of the seven natural wonders! On shore, the beaches glow with white sand that gently slopes into warm sparkling water – but be careful – wherever you go, those pesky stingers lurk in the shallow end from November to June. And watch out for signs about those crocs too!

Our stay was perfect but the only thing I thought could have been better was the bed it was on rollers so it moved everywhere needed to have some plastic cups under the wheels the bed also squeaks. And as for the staff we requested a 4am wake up call for our flight home which didn't happen but I still loved our stay.
