Planning a trip to Dubai, the sprawling metropolis in the middle of the desert? This city is a fantastic holiday destie, and if you're booked on a flight that arrives late at night, our Dubai Airport hotels are the perfect place to rest. Once you've had some decent shuteye in your conveniently located hotel room, you'll be ready to tackle all the modern delights of Dubai in the desert.
Things to Do
Dubai is famous for its shopping malls and the closest one to the airport is the Dubai Festival City, best-known for its marina, outdoor canal, upscale stores and restaurants. In fact, there are more than 100 cafes and restaurants to choose from here and if you fancy a drink in the evening, all you have to do is take the lift to the top floor and kick back in the InterContinental Hotel Bar. If you're not afraid of heights, peer out the window and take in the magnificent view of Dubai's skyline.
In the morning, you can take a stroll along the banks of the Dubai creek - which is actually more like a river - and wander around the historic buildings, which used to be part of this old port town. For a unique cultural experience, you can also take a cruise down the creek in a boat called an 'abra'.
To explore some more natural scenery before being engulfed in the concrete jungle of Dubai's inner city, make tracks to the Mushrif National Park. This park is filled with wide open spaces, swimming pools and picnic spots, as well as barbeque facilities. And after 4pm there's a fair, where you can sit on the merry-go-round or ride a camel.
Getting Around
Once you're ready to head into the sleek downtown area, all you need to do is jump in a taxi or hop on the Dubai Metro and you'll be there in a matter of 10 minutes. You can also catch a bus into the city from the station just opposite the airport terminal.
